Week 4 - Atlanta Hawks

Week 4 was very busy. Normal work days, kids basketball games and helping host a DECA regional competition with over 400 kids in attendance kept me busy. So I got behind. Lets play catch up! Kimberly, the boys and I traveled to Atlanta to see the Hawks play basketball. The boys had never been to a professional basketball game and to watch the excitement of a new experience through their eyes was great. The seats were awesome! My nephew got us a spot in one of the business suites. Now I know why they call it a suite. I just can't explain the spelling.

The photos are a couple of the few that were taken. I spent more time watching the game (go figure)?, than taking pictures. Watch for more photos soon! If you have ideas please let me know!

Week 3 - Colbyman

This week brings one of my favorite subjects into focus. My son Colby. Colby is an outdoorsy kind of guy. He loves all sports and loves to ride his bike. I have been reading and studying the Rembrandt lighting style and this is my loose interpretation. A master of this is Joel Grimes. If you have not checked out his work go to joelgrimes.com (no he is not paying me!). I have a long way to go in working with this style but to keep Colby's attention long enough to get a good shot is a task in itself. Please comment whether good or bad whenever you visit. I want to learn from my mistakes as well as hear if you like a photo. Keep smiling!

Week 2 - Not what you would expect!

I spent several days contemplating what I would photograph for my next entry. I had a great experience on Sunday, traveling to Nashville and attending the "Imaging, USA" conference and trade show for the Professional Photographers Association. I attended several Adobe classes and saw tons of mouth watering equipment and techniques in the Expo. Sunday night...back to reality.

The weather has been well below freezing for over a week. Lakes have been frozen, schools closed and all kinds of issues surrounding the weather. That is why I thought I would photograph some scenery out in the cold. I waited a little late in our deep freeze to shoot ice and snow as the temperature rose to around 33 degrees. I shot several lakes with Cold Duck(s), trees growing through the ice and the like. I wandered down Dug Gap road and thought of the local gentleman who keeps exotic animals. He has buffalo, zebra, emu, cow, goat, what he calls a "normal" horse, and my favorite, camels. Hence the photo of the friendly camel as he came over to visit us. The "cool" look of the photo was inspired by the cool weather. Let me know what you think. I like it!

Week One

My first post came as an accident this afternoon. A good friend needed a photo for an invitation and needed it quick. I happened to have my camera with me and went to take a photo of the site for a party. With minimal post processing this is the result. I feel pretty good about the image and would like any opinions on what I could improve.

If you have any ideas for next weeks image send me an email.

Something new. View the 52.

In 2010 I want to focus on continual progression in my photography skills. I came upon a site where a guy was posting a 365 blog and adding a photo every day. Knowing that a photo everyday was just too much considering my kids, work and other activities I opted for a more obtainable target. What I will attempt to do is add one photograph per week and have it be creative, interesting and visually appealing. I have not taken a photo in 2010 yet but I plan on taking some tomorrow. I hope some of you may find this blog interesting and may even post suggestions for a photo or make a comment on a photo you like.

Smile! The next photo may be of you.
